Navigating the World of Talos-II
Unlike most modern RPGs, Endfield isn't simply one giant open world. It's actually composed of several large, interconnected sandbox regions. Which is actually a benefit; it keeps the combat, resources, and your factory lines organized so you don't spend hours on end just wandering around aimlessly.
Movement and Gathering
Moving through the wildlands is about much more than just walking. Here are three necessary tricks to get you by:
- Dash-Jump: Regular jumping doesn't cover much distance. Dashing right before you jump will give you a huge increase in the distance. This is important for crossing gaps or reaching high platforms.
- The Air-Attack Lift: Sometimes the resource or the ledge is just a bit too high. If you do the attack in the air, the animation should give your character just enough height to grab the resource or the item.
- AI Team Gathering: One of the greatest things about this game is that your AI teammates will assist you in gathering resources. However, they will only pick up a resource if you have picked it before. Every time you see a new plant or mineral, make sure you grab it manually. After that, your team will take care of everything on its own.
Team Building: Two Ways to Fight
In Endfield, you manage a squad of four operators. Success depends on how well these characters work together. There are two primary methods of forming your team: Arts (Elemental), or Physical Approach.
The Arts Approach
This gamestyle depends on elemental powers. There are five elements: Physical, Heat, Electric, Cryo, and Nature. Using an attack of the same element twice will trigger a huge-damage Arts Burst. Mixing different elements is how you trigger Arts Reactions, which freeze, shock, or slowly damage enemies over time.
The Physical Approach
Physical teams require power and vulnerability instead of elements. First, you lift enemies up in the air or knock them down to build stacks of Vulnerable. Then you use Crush or Breach to instantly spend those stacks for huge damage and quickly knock out enemies.
Master the Combat Flow
The Combat is in real time and very fast. You're controlling one character at a time, but all of your team members are active on the field.
- Background Skills: You don't have to switch characters in order to use their skills. Even while attacking with your primary hero, you can press the skill button for another team member right away. They will perform their skill and keep fighting on their own.
- SP Management: Your team shares a pool of 3 Skill Points; they charge up very slowly, but you can speed up the process by landing final hits, doing perfect dodges, or continuing with an extended combo.
- Animation Canceling: Many characters have a "Heavy Attack" at the end of their basic combo. This move is strong but leaves you standing still for a second. In order to stay safe, dodge or use a skill as soon as the heavy attack hits. This cancels the slow animation while still dealing the damage.
- Chain Attacks: These are cinematic and have high damage potential. They cost no SP and can't be interrupted by enemies. Use them every cooldown for maximum damage output.
Building Your Industrial Empire
The "Endfield" in the title is your factory, and it's a core part of the game-not optional. That's because this is where you craft the best gear and also some really important items. Early on, you mine ore using Portable Rigs, but they fill up fast and require too much attention. As soon as possible, move over to Electric Mining Rigs to speed up resource collection and make it easier.
Your factory also needs a strong power system in order to work properly. You build Electric Pylons to send power across the map and unlock electric barriers that protect rare loot. Meanwhile, your base can be raided by Landbreakers. To survive, you must place turrets, shields, and walls with wisdom, giving the game a light tower-defense feel.
Progression and Gear
Character growth is linked with breaking level caps. Your operators can reach level 99, but you have to use certain materials to increase their level for every 20 steps (level 20, 40, 60, etc.).
The Level 60 Goal: Achieving level 60 is the most important milestone. You can start wearing gold equipment, which is the strongest gear in the game.
Stats Over Sets: Most of the new players focus only on "set bonuses" (wearing 4 pieces of the same gear). In the beginning, it is a huge mistake. The most important thing is you should need to match all your gear to your character's Gold Stat. Each character scales with an attribute such as strength or intelligence. Always pick the gear with the higher primary stat first.
Understanding the Gacha
To obtain new characters (operators) and new weapons, you must use the “Headhunting” system.
- New Horizons: This is the beginner banner. It only requires 40 pulls for a 6-star character and a weapon of your choice. Complete this first.
- Chartered Banners: These are for specific featured characters. When you miss the featured character in your first 6-star draw, the following one is guaranteed to be them.
- Arsenal Exchange: This is where you get top-level guns. You receive special tickets when pulling characters, for every 4 pulls a guarantees 6-star weapon (25% chance it's featured) you get. At 8 attempts, that you're guaranteed the featured weapon. You can also buy specific weapons directly if you want.
Daily Routine
- Spend your daily energy on Energy Stages to collect materials for leveling up the characters.
- Check resource nodes on the map because plants and minerals respawn, helping to keep your storage in balance.
- Complete daily missions in order to earn account experience and currency for more character pulls.
- Visit Owl Stations regularly to collect materials for the upgrade of the ships and other base improvements.
