The second is the Photo Ruler mode, which works with images you have already taken, allowing you to measure objects retroactively by comparing them against a reference object of known size. This dual approach ensures you are equipped for both real-time and post-capture measurement tasks.
Within the AR Ruler mode, a suite of specialized tools is available to handle virtually any dimensional challenge you might encounter. These tools function by letting you aim at a detected plane and place markers to define what you want to measure. The available measurement functions include:

Accuracy depends heavily on capturing the image correctly; the object and the Base Item must be on the same plane, and the camera must be parallel to them during the shot to avoid perspective distortions. Once the photo is loaded, you align blue arrows against the Base Item and green arrows against the target object, and the calculated length appears on the screen.
For small physical objects, the application also provides a classic on-screen ruler function. This turns your device's display into a traditional measuring tool. You can place a small item directly on the screen and adjust the on-screen limiters to gauge its size. If the scale appears visually stretched or shrunken, a manual calibration option is available. You can recalibrate the on-screen ruler using the same Base Items, like a credit card or coin, ensuring the displayed inches or centimeters are accurate.
