Gear System Overview

Each of your characters has 6 gear slots. Every piece has a main stat, random substats and a gear set. By equipping multiple pieces from the same set you can activate powerful bonuses. You can upgrade your gear upto +15 and in each level the main stat will increase a bit. You can also engrave your gear and raise the enhancement cap to +18. You will need 10,000 Gold for engraving Tier 1 gear and 20,000 Gold for engraving Tier 2 gear.

Equipment Slots and Main Stats

4 gear slots have fixed main stats and 2 gear slots have random main stat options.

• Weapon: Fixed ATK (70 → 280 on Tier 2 Legendary at +15)

• Gloves: Fixed HP (475 → 1,975)

• Armor: Fixed DEF (45 → 180)

• Boots: Fixed SPD (15 → 30)

Necklaces can roll:

• ATK%, HP% or DEF% (3% → 14.25%)

• CRIT Rate (3.5% → 14%)

• CRIT DMG (4.2% → 16.8%)

• SPD (15 → 30)

Rings can roll:

• ATK%, HP% or DEF% (3% → 14.25%)

• Effect Hit or Effect RES (5.3% → 21.8%)

Alternative relic equipment can also roll stats such as Element Damage, Heal Bonus, Accuracy, Resistance and Chain Mastery depending on the gear type.

Gear Grades and Tiers

There are 4 tiers of equipment in Star Sailors – Uncommon, Rare, Unique and Legendary. Higher rarity equipment has better base stats, more starting substats and higher stat gains when you upgrade them. Unique and Legendary gear also have Tier 1 and Tier 2 variants. Tier 2 gear has a lot higher stats. Let us look at the stat difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 variants of Legendary gear:

• Weapon ATK: 200 → 280 (+40%)

• Gloves HP: 1,540 → 1,975 (+28%)

• Armor DEF: 140 → 180 (+29%)

• Boots SPD: 25 → 30 (+20%)

• ATK%, HP%, DEF% accessories: 9.75% → 14.25% (+46%)

• CRIT Rate: 10% → 14% (+40%)

• CRIT DMG: 12% → 16.8% (+40%)

If you want a build that you can use till the very end then your goal should be to get Tier 2 Legendary gear as soon as possible.

Best Gear Sets

Different gear sets are good for different character roles. Let us understand each of them properly.

Offensive Sets

• Attack Set (4-piece) increases your ATK by 20%. This makes it one of the best multipurpose DPS sets.

• Insight Set (4-piece) increases your CRIT Rate by 30%. Using this boost your damage dealers can deal reliable damage.

• Precision Set (4-piece) increases your CRIT Rate by 15% and Effect Hit by 20%. Because of this you can use it for your DPS characters that depend on debuffs.

• Destruction Set (4-piece) increases your CRIT Damage by 40%. If your Critical Rate is already high then this is a very powerful choice.

• Blessing of Primordial Tan has a 2-piece and a 4-piece variant. The 2-piece gives you a 15% ATK boost when you enter a battle. The 4-piece variant increases your damage by 3% after every action and you can stack this upto 5 times.

• Radiant Sun also has 2 variants. The 2-piece variant increases your Fire Damage by 10%. And the 4-piece variant gives you 15% more Additional Damage. This makes it one of the strongest Fire element sets.

• Still Abyss also has 2 variants. The 2-piece variant increases your Earth Damage by 10%. And the 4-piece variant increases your CRIT Rate by 10% after you use an Ultimate skill.

• Eternal Grove increases your Light Damage by 10%. If you use an Active Skill you get 10% more Light Damage for 2 turns. 

Tank Sets

• Health Set (4-piece) increases your HP by 30%. This is a very good choice for your frontline characters.

• Barrier Set (2-piece) increases your HP by 10% and Effect Resistance by 5%.

• Defense Set (2-piece) increases your DEF by 15%.

• Resolute Cause has 2 variants. The 2-piece variant increases your DEF by 15%. And the 4-piece variant reduces the damage taken by your teammates by 20% for 1 turn after you use an Ultimate.

Support and Healer Sets

• Speed Set (4-piece) increases your SPD by 15. Because of this you can act earlier in each turn.

• Hit Set (2-piece) increases your Effect Hit by 20%.

• Resistance Set (2-piece) increases your Effect Resistance by 20%.

• Purifying Seas has 2 variants. The 2-piece variant increases your Heal Bonus by 10%. The 4-piece variant increases Healing of your teammates by 15% for 2 turns after you use an Ultimate skill.

• Noble Soul also has 2 variants. The 2-piece variant increases your Max HP by 15%. The 4-piece variant gives +1 SP Recovery to all your teammates and +2 SP Recovery to you when the battle is about to begin.

Substats

Every gear piece can roll up to 4 substats from a pool of 11 possible stats – ATK, HP, DEF, SPD, ATK%, HP%, DEF%, CRIT Rate, CRIT Damage, Effect Hit and Effect RES. You cannot use a substat same as your gear’s main stat on the same piece. You can unlock new substats at +3, +6, +9, +12 and +15. Once you unlock all the slots the future upgrades will increase the existing substat values instead of your main stats. If you are using a DPS character then prioritize CRIT Rate, CRIT Damage, ATK% and Speed. If you are using a Tank then focus on HP%, DEF%, Speed and Effect Resistance. And if you are using a Support character then choose Speed, HP%, Effect Hit or Effect Resistance based on your character’s abilities.
