About the Game

Double Button is a team-based card game with deep roots in the card culture of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and has spread steadily through the surrounding regions due to its blend of competitive speed and cooperative strategy. Unlike games that reward only the fastest solo player, Double Button requires pairs of partners seated opposite each other to coordinate their plays, manage hand strength together, and time their exits in a way that benefits the team rather than just the individual.
The game uses two full decks combined into a pool of 108 cards, dealt among four players split into two teams. The primary goal is for both partners on the same team to finish their hands before the opposing pair. How the game ends determines the scoring outcome. When both members of one team clear their hands while neither opponent has finished, a double deduction is scored, which is the most decisive result. If a team claims first place and third place across the finish order, the result is a single deduction. When one team holds first and fourth place, the round ends in a flat tie with no scoring advantage for either side.
Card Types and How They Work
Double Button supports a wide range of hand types that give each round its tactical depth:
Single card: any individual card played alone
Pair: two cards sharing the same rank, suits do not need to match
Connected pairs: three or more consecutive pairs, such as 33 44 55 or JJ QQ KK; the card 2 cannot be included
Three of a kind: three cards sharing the same rank
Three in a row: three or more consecutive triplets; again, 2 is excluded and cannot anchor a sequence
Straight: five or more cards with consecutive point values across any suits; 2 cannot appear in a straight
Bomb: four or more cards sharing the same rank, such as 4444 or 77777
Continuous bomb: several adjacent bombs played together, such as 3333 44444 555555
Heavenly King Bomb: four trump cards forming the highest structured bomb, rated at 7 stars
Card point order from highest to lowest runs: Big King, Small King, 2, A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.
The God of Wealth Rule
One of the most distinctive features of the God of Fortune version of Double Button is the role of the Big and Small Kings as wild cards called the God of Wealth. When either king is played alone, it counts as a king. When combined with other cards, it adapts to fit the hand type being played. If a king within a combination could represent multiple values, the game assigns it the highest valid option. For example, playing 5, 6, 7, 8, and a king in a straight allows the king to become a 4 or a 9, so the game treats it as a 9.
Any combination of three kings together creates a Three Kings Bomb, which carries a 6-star rating but ranks as the weakest card among all 6-star combinations.
Bomb Star Ratings Explained
Bombs are ranked using a star system that determines which bomb beats another:
A standard X-phase bomb earns a star rating equal to X (for example, a 6-card bomb of the same rank is rated 6 stars)
A continuous bomb spanning X phases across Y consecutive ranks earns a star rating of X plus Y
When phase sizes differ across a continuous bomb, Z represents the largest phase size present, and the star rating becomes Z plus Y
Higher star rating wins; if star ratings are equal, fewer total cards wins; if card counts are equal, the higher point value wins
Heavenly King Bomb is always the strongest 7-star card
Catching the Wind
Double Button includes a mechanic called catching the wind. When a player finishes their last card and no one else plays into the round, the right to lead the next round passes to the opposing team rather than continuing with the same side. If any player does respond before the round closes, normal play continues without triggering this rule.
Playability and Accessibility
The game is designed to be easy to enter and free of financial pressure. There are no in-app purchases of any kind, no advertising interruptions, and no mandatory account creation. Sessions in friend rooms persist as long as a player remains in the room. For moments when a network issue forces a disconnection, a smart hosting system automatically selects the most effective card play on the disconnected player's behalf, protecting the team from a disrupted strategy.
