About the Game

Rikuji Earth is a military strategy simulation built around the concept of anthropomorphized ground combat units. The game originally appeared as a browser title in February 2016 and has since grown into a large-scale experience with over 300 collectible characters, fully voiced dialogue, and deep tactical systems. Developed by Zoo Corporation, the game falls into the simulation genre and places players in command of elite forces known as the JGSDF Girls, who must reclaim Japan from an underground enemy called the Magma Army.

Story and Setting
In the year 20XX, a sudden tectonic event causes volcanoes across Japan to erupt at once. Along with the magma, a strange intelligent species emerges from underground. These creatures, known as the Magma Army, can mimic human military equipment and tactics. They quickly occupy Japan, forcing the surviving ground forces to retreat. The JGSDF Girls, elite units that personify garrisons and weapon systems, launch a counteroffensive under a new commander. The player takes on that role and leads the fight to liberate occupied territory.
The Magma Army is not a mindless enemy. They have observed human civilization from below for ages and view the surface world's resource consumption as an invasion. Their ability to copy equipment makes them a dangerous mirror of the player's own forces. However, this same trait creates a unique gameplay loop. When you defeat Magma units, you can capture their equipment, repair it, and repurpose it for your own JGSDF Girls.
Core Gameplay
Battles use a board simulation format on hex grids. The rules are simple enough for newcomers, but the terrain variety and unit interactions give experienced players plenty to think about. More than 600 maps recreate real Japanese locations, and each map presents different challenges. Flat roads favor fast movement, while mountainous regions block vehicles and tanks entirely. You need to balance infantry-style Garrison Girls with heavier Weapon Girls to handle every situation.
The Capture system adds a risk-reward layer to combat. Enemy characters can be captured, repaired, and turned into allies. At the same time, your own units can be captured if you are careless. This two-way mechanic keeps pressure on both sides and encourages careful positioning rather than reckless attacks.
Garrison Girls
Garrison Girls personify platoons from real garrisons and sub-garrisons across Japan. Examples include Kisarazu Akane from Kisarazu Garrison and Ichigaya Ai from Ichigaya Garrison. Each design reflects regional characteristics, and all characters feature full voice acting from a notable cast. In battle, Garrison Girls act as infantry units. Their equipment can be changed to suit different missions, including rifles, portable anti-tank rounds, surface-to-air missiles, light trucks, high mobility vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and transport helicopters. Equipping a helicopter lets a unit move anywhere regardless of terrain, while vehicles improve mobility and armor options increase defense.
Weapon Girls
Weapon Girls represent historic and modern JGSDF equipment, from the post-war M24 light tank to the current Type 10 tank. The roster also includes attack helicopters like the AH-1S and AH-64D, multiple tank models, self-propelled guns, and rocket launchers. Certain Weapon Girls, mainly tanks, can be customized with new main guns, missiles, and autocannons. You can obtain equipment by liberating areas, capturing and dismantling Magma troops, or developing gear with available materials.
Voice Cast and Art
The game features voice work from Ayana Taketatsu, Kanae Ito, Suzuko Mimori, Hisako Kanemoto, Miku Ito, Kotori Koiwai, Rie Murakawa, Azusa Tadokoro, Ayaka Ohashi, Ayaka Fukuhara, and others. Original illustrations come from artists such as Takashi Fujisawa, daito, and Ganmarei.
