About the Game

Shoumetsu Toshi, known in English as Disappearing City, is a story-driven action RPG from WFS, Inc. that centers on a gripping mystery surrounding an entire city that vanished from existence three years prior. Though its original online service concluded in February 2024, the game has been preserved and rereleased as a standalone offline version, allowing both returning players and newcomers to experience the complete adventure without any online dependency.
At the heart of the game is a compelling dual-protagonist story. Takuya, a courier voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, and Yuki, a young woman with unexplained supernatural abilities voiced by Kana Hanazawa, find themselves drawn into the ruins of the disappeared city after receiving a message from Yuki's father, a man who was believed to have been lost along with it. Their journey into this ghost of a metropolis forms the emotional backbone of the entire experience. The writing does not shy away from difficult moments, and the narrative builds toward an outcome that players must work through obstacles and confrontations to reach.
The action system is designed to be accessible without sacrificing engagement. Controls rely entirely on taps and swipes, making the combat feel immediate and responsive. Players chain together movement and attacks in a way that feels visually dynamic, weaving through environments and enemies with a satisfying rhythm. The simplicity of the control scheme means the focus stays on the story and the action rather than on memorizing complex input sequences.
Beyond the main narrative, the game features a companion collection system built around characters called Tamashii. The roster spans roughly 2,000 individual companions drawn from a wide variety of real-world inspired professions, including athletes, DJs, and many others. These are not simple stat upgrades but fully voiced characters contributed by an enormous pool of voice talent. The complete Tamashii roster from the original online version is available in the offline release, meaning nothing from the original service has been cut from the collection.

Swipe-based inputs translate naturally to mouse controls in MuMuPlayer, and keyboard shortcuts can further streamline how players move through the game. Managing a roster of nearly 2,000 companions is also considerably easier when you have the screen real estate to browse and organize them properly.
Shoumetsu Toshi is a rare example of a mobile title that combines blockbuster voice acting, an emotionally grounded narrative, and approachable action gameplay into a single cohesive package. The offline conversion ensures that the full experience remains intact and playable for years to come, and running it on PC through MuMuPlayer is arguably the most comfortable way to take in everything the game has to offer.
