About the Game

Serial Cleaner, from developer Plug In Digital, drops you into a stylishly gritty version of the 1970s where crime scene cleanup becomes a tense game of cat and mouse. You play as Bob Leaner, an ordinary guy who earns extra cash by scrubbing away the aftermath of mob activity. Between taking his mother to bingo and handling household chores, Bob receives calls from shady contacts who need evidence removed before the cops piece everything together. The game balances a lighthearted tone with genuine stealth pressure, creating an experience that feels both playful and demanding.
At its heart, every level tasks you with removing all traces of a crime: bodies, weapons, bloodstains, and anything else that could link criminals to the scene. Police officers patrol each area with set routes, and your job is to observe their movements, identify blind spots, and act when the moment is right. If an officer spots you, they will give chase, forcing you to break line of sight and find a safe hiding spot before getting caught. This constant tension keeps you alert without ever feeling unfair.
The game gives you real freedom in how you handle each scene. You might knock over an object to create a distraction, luring a patrol away from a body you need to grab. You could turn on equipment to draw attention elsewhere, or simply wait in tall grass until an officer passes. Bodies can be hidden in designated spots, and you can slip into closets to avoid detection. The environment is your best tool, and learning how to manipulate it is key to surviving the later stages.
Progression introduces new complications at a steady pace. Levels become more complex, with tighter spaces, additional evidence to collect, and police who react more aggressively to disturbances. You are encouraged to replay missions to improve your completion times and scores, which adds a layer of replayability for players who enjoy optimizing their routes. The satisfaction of clearing a scene without ever being seen is a reward in itself.
The visual design leans heavily into 1970s aesthetics. Bright, saturated colors, geometric shapes, and a minimalist art style give the game a nostalgic yet distinctive look. This retro presentation pairs perfectly with the soundtrack, which features funky and jazzy tracks that keep the energy up even during quiet moments of planning. The audio and visual elements work together to create a cohesive atmosphere that sets Serial Cleaner apart from more serious stealth titles.
One of the most satisfying aspects of the game is watching the crime scene change in real time. Bloodstains vanish as you clean them, and the pile of remaining bodies shrinks with each successful disposal. This visible progress creates a strong sense of accomplishment, but it also raises the stakes. Police can notice these changes if you are not careful, adding another layer of risk to every action you take.
