Vita Sort is an original categorization puzzle built around the visual language of Mahjong tiles. Created by Vita Studio, the game does not follow traditional Mahjong rules, Mahjong Solitaire, or card game systems. The word Mahjong here refers only to the tile art style. What makes Vita Sort different is its focus on sorting rather than matching. You observe the board, decide which tiles to collect, and direct them into category slots until each requirement is complete. Understanding the core loop
At the heart of Vita Sort is a simple but strategic process. You tap any available tile on the board, and it moves into a temporary tray at the bottom. The top of the screen shows three main category slots, each displaying an active Mahjong tile category and its collection progress, such as Characters 2/4. When a tile enters the tray and matches a category already present in one of the main slots, all matching tiles in the tray are automatically counted toward that slot. If the tile belongs to a new major category and an empty main slot is available, that new category becomes active. Once a main category slot reaches its target number, it is fully collected and removed, freeing space for another category.
Planning around limited space
The temporary tray is intentionally small. This means you cannot simply tap every tile without thinking. Each action should contribute to completing a main category, because filling the tray with too many un-categorizable tiles can stall your progress. The challenge is to plan several moves ahead, recognizing which categories are close to completion and which tiles can safely enter the tray without blocking future options. This planning layer separates Vita Sort from simpler sorting games and gives every level a puzzle like quality.
Clearing the board
Your ultimate objective in each level is to remove all Mahjong tiles from the board by completing the required categories.
