Clash Royale August 2025 Balance Changes Guide

08/14/2025

The Final Balance update for August 2025 was released on August 4, 2025 which brought significant balance changes for the troops dominating the previous meta. A total of 20 cards has gone through refinement and update, featuring a strategic mix of nerfs, buffs and reworks. These changes will directly impact the meta, focused on hard hitting the dominating strategies and promoting the revival of underused troop cards.

Cards like Miner, Dagger and Royal Chef, who have been in meta for a long time will be toned down to reduce their oppressive influence. Meanwhile, underused cards such as Spirit Empress, Phoenix and Zappies will receive the much-deserved buffs that will possibly open the doors to various new deck combinations and mark as the shift of the current meta.

Balance Changes: Nerf

The August patch has brought a stop to the long domination of certain cards and this proves to be quite impactful for players who have been maintaining their high win rates with these cards.

Royal Chef

  • Min Cook Time: 35 seconds to 38 seconds
  • Max Cook Time: 21 seconds to 23 seconds

Min Cook Time and Max Cooking has been increased which is 8-9% slower than the previous cooking time. This will reduce its frequent pancake spawns and relieve the Chef pressure a bit.

Spear Goblins

  • Range: 5.5 tiles to 5 tiles
  • First Hit Time: 0.40 sec to 0.50 sec

The range for the spear goblins has decreased by 9% and the goblin’s first hit time after deployment has also been increased from making it +25% slower than before.

Miner

  • Hit Speed: 1hit/1.2s to 1 hit/1.3s

The miner is a strong card that has been dominating in pro and ladder play, but the nerf to his attack speed will affect his significance.

Evolved Skeleton Barrel

  • Death Damage: 256 to 238

Upon death, the Evolved Skeleton Barrel used to do a massive damage of 256, which has been toned down to 238. It might not look like a big change on the paper but it will allow the defense buildings to survive a little longer.

Evolved Giant Snowball

  • Roll Time: 1.25s to 0.75s

The rolling duration for the evolved giant snowball has been trimmed down by 40%.

Rage Spell

  • Damage: 148 to 179 Hitpoints
  • Duration: 5.5 sec to 4.5 sec

The Rage spell gets too rework changes that are its damage has been increased by 21% while the duration for the spell has been cut off by 18%. So, while your troops will deal more increased damage, the rage window will now be shorter.

Dagger Duchess

  • Hit Speed: 1 hit/0.45 sec to 1hit/0.5 sec

The Dagger Duchess got a bit of a nerf on her hit speed. This will be much more impactful in constant hit exchanges where the duchess used to excel previously in melting down high hitpoints target.

Cannoneer

  • Hit Speed: 0.42hits/sec to 0.48hits/sec
  • Damage: 386 hitpoints to 320 hitpoints

The cannoneer received a buff on its attack speed from 1 hit per 2.4 seconds to 1 hit per 2.1 seconds that is a 14% increase but the more significant change is its nerf on the damage. Although he can deal more attacks, the attack damage has been trimmed down.

Evolved Dart Goblin

  • Poison Cloud Duration: 4.0 second to 1.0 second

The Poison cloud effect has been completely nerfed from 4 sec to 1 sec which is a 75% decrease in its duration.

Balance Changes: Buff

The update has favoured the underplayed cards that have been overshadowed in the previous meta. The cards that has received the buffs are:

Spirit Empress

  • HP (Ground): 4.5 to 5
  • Range (Air): 1075 to 1134

With the huge buffs, Spirit Empress has gained more sustainability and more range, making her suitable for both offense and defense roles.

Phoenix

  • Death Damage Reduction (Towers): 70% to 0%

The Phoenix was once the most feared card in Clash Royale and with its return of the death damage on towers, he might become the biggest threat for the players.

Zappies

  • First Hit Time: 1.10 sec to 0.80 sec

With the 27% decrease in the first hit time, Zappies can now fast hit its first attack to shut down enemies on first engagement.

Golem

  • Golemite Damage: 48 to 84

The Golemite received a 75% increase in its damage which will bring the tankiest tank back on the field with the spamming decks.

The Firecracker received a 6% decrease in the sight range but also gained a reduction of 33% in recoil that adjusted her survivability and made room for better positioning.
