Destiny: Rising Fishing Guide - Locations, Rewards & Best Bait Tips

Mar 12, 2026

Fishing is one of the most notable additions to the water-themed Destiny: Rising game. While you should not expect anything that compares to the complicated mechanics of a modern fishing game, it is a fun side activity. Fishing is a fleshed-out system that rewards the player with tokens, gear, and even lore. It is a straightforward activity, provided you know where to go.

Destiny: Rising

Players will not be standing on a secluded pier for hours, as the fishing holes are woven into public areas and exploration zones. Whether you are waiting on a fire-team to regroup or just taking in skyboxes, casting lines will take seconds. At a glance, Fishing is a relaxing side activity that also offers valuable resources. It also encourages you to slow down, taking a break from the battles.

How to unlock fishing in Destiny: Rising?

Fishing is not available to beginners, and that’s great because it gives you time to get familiar with the aspects of the story. Players get access to it after clearing chapters 2 and 3 of the primary campaign. Once you are eligible to go to this stage, interact with ‘Pandora 7’, a character. He will be found leaning by the pond in the ‘Haven Bazaar’. This NPC will introduce the basics and give you the basic gear. This is where you start the story step for ‘Go Fishing’, and doing so rewards ‘50 Lumina Leaves’ and unlocks the fishing activity.

Complete both and you will receive a Wooden Rod, a starter tool, and 10 standard bait options. These are just enough to hook you into the gameplay. When you have completed the quest, a fishing icon will be added to the activity wheel. Players will now be able to approach water that has ripples in it and begin fishing. The first fishing holes should be small ponds around Heaven Hub.

The Best Fishing Locations

The first thing to consider is that not every fishing spot is immediately available. To unlock the locations, players must level up the fishing experience by catching fish at accessible spots. The ideal first place would be Haven, and specifically, Neiva Memorial Pond to build skills, and then progress to the other areas as experience and skills develop. The Heaven Ponds are safe, easy, and practical for first-timers. However, you will not find exotic fish there. It would be an optimal place to farm Angler Tokens and then build toward the early Fishing Skill Levels.

Jiangshi Metro is an unlockable area that becomes available as you advance in the game. The spots there will offer better rewards in terms of EXP per catch. Players also have a better chance of reeling in species that are more exotic. The Red Sea Rift is the third unlockable endgame area. You will find some of the rarest fish in the game there. Though it does require a stronger rod and better skill. The reason is that the fish are typically harder to catch and the lines snap more easily.

The Best Fishing Locations

How to unlock these fishing locations

The fishing spots are not accessible via game progression. Rather, you have to invest in getting Fishing Ability Points. The system is called Advancing in Order.

  • Advancing in Order I- at this level, you will get access to beginner spots and upgrades in Haven.
  • Advancing in Order II- Here, players unlock intermediate spots within Jiangshi Metro.
  • Advancing in Order III- it unlocks the advanced spots in Red Sea Rift.

Fishing Rewards

Players may earn EXP after completing mini-games to unlock rewards as they increase Fishing levels. You keep the fish caught and sometimes reel in rare items. The fish caught can be exchanged for Angler Tokens and used to buy items in the shop. As you advance in the game, you will also allocate skill points so the fishing talents can improve. You may also deliver the fish to Pandora-7 to secure Angler Tokens, which can be used at her shop to purchase roads, bait, shaders and other things.

Before delivering fish to Pandora-7, it may be advisable to search the social space for any cats. These may be found at the Bazaar, or Lord Radegast’s Throne. Each cat has a specific diet, so it is advisable to be careful about what you give the smaller ones. With some luck, you may end up getting Lumia Leaves, and Angler Tokens. Take care not to give the cats the highest-quality fish. Offered food does not increase the chances of getting better in exchange.

Best Bait Tips

Fishing is a core progression action, so the bait's quality must align with the strategy. Maximize the efficiency of using bait. This is to avoid wasting high-end type bait on the common fish. Save the premium, type baits including Sticky Bait or Mystic Deep Sea Bait for the advanced fishing spots located in Jiangshi Metro and Red Sea Rift. There they can attract rarer fish.

Matching the bait to the target fish is also crucial, as better bait increases the occurrence rate during the struggle phase. Standard bait types like Make-Shift Bait are great for early game phases in Neiva Memorial Pond. As you continue, invest the Fishing Ability Points in frugality which offers the bait the chance of not being consumed if you do not get a catch.

Conclusion

Fishing rewards the casual players who just want a break from the combat activities. It is also useful for the grinders looking to squeeze value from the system. As you increase your fishing levels and invest the fishing ability points, more fishing spots will become available. While reaching the new zones offers access to their fishing holes, higher tier areas within will still be locked behind the player’s Fishing Ability progress.
