In recent years, Pokemon TCG Pocket has turned out to be one of the biggest hits in terms of Pokemon Trading Card games. It gives you a compact experience of the original Pokemon Trading Card game, but still keeps it a bit realistic. Recently, the Wisdom of Sea and Sky update was released and because of that, the deck strategies have changed a lot. 

If you are a beginner, then it might be a bit confusing to keep all these changes in mind and understand what decks you should choose. In this guide, we have divided the decks into different tiers so that it is a bit easier for you to choose which decks you should use to maximize your strength and efficiency.

Tier List

In this tier list we have divided the different pokemon decks in four tiers based on their performance, how popular they are, and how consistently you can use them in matches.

S-Tier

These decks are the most powerful decks in the game right now. You can use them in almost all matchups. They have very little weaknesses and you can use them to consistently win matches no matter what setup you use.

• Sylveon ex (Water/Psychic): It is a flexible control and damage hybrid. You can use it to pressure early while also setting up strong late-game win conditions.
• Flareon ex (Fire): This card is one of the best Eeveelutions in the format and can deal a high amount of burst damage. You can pair it with Eevee ex and Leafeon ex for versatile attack options.
• Buzzwole ex (Grass): This card is really aggressive and adaptable. With this you can apply pressure very early which can be advantageous against slower decks.
• Solgaleo ex (Metal): This is a balanced deck that can control the pace of a match while dealing steady, reliable damage.
• Darkrai ex / Giratina ex (Dark): This is slightly slower than the others but still a very powerful combo deck that uses energy acceleration and sustained damage over multiple turns.

Other decks in this tier are Guzzlord ex, Arceus ex, Dialga ex and Gyarados ex. These decks have a consistent setup as well as strong attackers, and you can use them in almost all strategies. If you use them properly, you can win even in bad matchups if you manage your resources properly.

A-Tier

A-Tier decks can win against S-Tier decks but you will have to play very carefully or be matched accordingly. You can still use them in tournaments and get good results, but you can’t make as many mistakes as you could with S-Tier decks.

• Ho-Oh ex (Electric): This deck has great synergy with Lugia ex for explosive turns. Using this deck, you can turn a game around in just one attack if you set it up correctly.
• Espeon ex (Psychic): This deck is known for its strong early-game control and healing. This means the more aggressive decks will find it a bit more difficult to win matches.
• Umbreon ex (Dark): This deck offers disruption and targeted knockouts. You can use it against decks which rely heavily on one primary attacker. If you target that attacker and defeat it, you can easily take down the whole team.
• Garchomp ex (Dragon): This one is a reliable midrange attacker with versatile options. However, it struggles against the fastest S-Tier decks.
• Charizard ex (Fire): If you use this deck carefully, you can deal massive burst damage on the opposing decks.

Other decks in this tier are Incineroar ex, Silvally, Primarina ex, Meowscarada, Gallade ex, Dragonite, Palkia ex, Wishiwashi ex, Exeggutor ex, Glaceon ex and Venusaur ex. These decks are highly competitive but have either slightly worse matchups against top decks or slower. They are also less consistent than S-Tier decks and you can’t rely on them heavily.

B-Tier

B-Tier decks can perform well in specific setups or as backups, but they don’t have the overall power or consistency to dominate over time.

• Rampardos (Fighting): This deck has high damage potential but you will need a proper setup, which can sometimes make it impractical to use in high-pressure situations.
• Pikachu ex (Electric): Earlier this deck would have been there in the S-tier, but with the newer updates and expansions there are just better options. It is still decent against specific matchups.
• Mewtwo ex / Gardevoir (Psychic): This is a control-oriented deck that can lock down slower opponents. However, you cannot use it against aggressive EX rush strategies.
• Articuno ex (Water): Using this deck you can stall and damage opponents. However, if you want to close games quickly then this is of no use.

Other decks in this tier are Alcremie, Magnezone, Decidueye ex, Psychic Toolbox, Weavile ex, Stoutland, Beedrill ex, Starmie ex, Paldean Clodsire ex, Togekiss, Skarmory, Fighting Toolbox, Lucario, Melmetal, Machamp ex, Tinkaton ex, Wigglytuff ex, Blastoise ex and Aerodactyl ex. You can use these decks in specific matchups and get great results. But they still have a lot of weaknesses and you can’t really expect them to win consistently.

C-Tier

You can use C-Tier decks for casual fun or experimentation, but they are not recommended for serious situations.

• Tapu Koko ex (Electric): This deck is fast but it does not have enough sustained damage to compete with top-tier decks.
• Magcargo (Fire): This deck has some interesting ability interactions but struggles against speed and disruption.
• Lapras ex (Water): This was once usable but it has now been overpowered by newer Water-type strategies like Sylveon ex.
• Moltres ex (Fire): This deck has high damage potential but you won’t get consistent results with it.

Other decks in this tier are Oricorio, Yanmega ex, Barry, Wugtrio ex, Infernape ex, Volkner, Koga, Brock, Greninja, Blaine, Marowak ex, Pachirisu ex, Pidgeot ex and Alakazam. You can definitely enjoy these decks for creative play or theme battles, but you cannot rely on them to handle the speed, power, and adaptability of the higher tiers.
